Milton, NY - The John Jay men's cross country team competed at the 15th Annual MSMC Knight Invite on Sunday morning at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome.
The Bloodhounds finished 12th overall among the 19th schools that competed. John Jay placed third among the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) schools that ran in this morning's meet with a time of 3:04.32 (36:54 avg. time).
Merchant Marine Academy took home the team title, finished with 32 points while posting a total time of 2:30.20 (30:04 avg. time). Farmingdale State (2:41.49 | 32:21 avg. time) and Word of Life (2:45.13 | 33:02 avg time) rounded out the top three schools.
Luke Zweisler of Merchant Marine Academy crossed the finish line first with a time of 28:16.0 (5:41.2 avg mile). Robert Royston of Purchase (29:17.2 | 5:53.5 avg mile) and Zweisler's teammate, Casey Symons, rounded out the top-three with a time of 29:17.2 (5:53.5).
Veteran Bloodhound runner
Joseph Valiente was the top-finisher for John Jay as he clocked in with a time of 34:17.3 (6:53.8 avg mile) to finish among the top-50 harriers.
Alejandro Animas was the next finisher for John Jay, posting a time of 35:13.6 (7:05.1 avg. mile). Newcomer
Traejon Tasher recorded his best time in a 8K race, finishing at 36:23.6 (7:19.2 avg. mile).
Other notable performances by the Bloodhounds at Sunday's meet include:
- Louis DeSario finished in 38:02.0 (7:39.0 avg. mile)
- Matthew Rodriguez and Dymy-Trov Guerrier finished back-to-back, with Rodriguez checking in at 40:36.3 (8:10.1 avg. mile) while Guerrier posted a time of 40:42.1 (8:11.2 avg. mile).
- Oluwatosin Kupoluyi rounded out the performances for the Bloodhounds with a time of 44:28.0 (8:56.7 avg. mile).
John Jay is slated to run at the Queensborough Community College Invitational, which is set for Sunday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m.
