Mahwah, NJ - The John Jay women's swimming team kicked off the 2024-25 season on Saturday, taking on Kean and Ramapo at the Roadrunners' home tri-meet.
The Kean Cougars were overwhelming in the meet, topping both opponents in the pool.
The Bloodhounds' "A" 200y medley relay team of
Rina Yamamoto,
Miranda Perez,
Luciana Uriarte and
Victoria Hapsis started the year off with a 2:13.32 finish.
Grace Driver was the lone John Jay representative in the next race, the 1000y freestyle, finishing in 15:30.80.
In the 200y freestyle race,
Katherine Sacgalindo clocked in at 3:11.92 for the Bloodhounds. She took a time of 1:42.87 in the next race, the 100y backstroke.
Gloria Glenn (1:33.47) beat out Driver (1:46.80) in a Bloodhound battle in the 100y breaststroke.
The defending "CUNYAC Fastest Woman in the Pool"
Miranda Perez scored the Bloodhounds' lone third-place finish in the 50y freestyle, taking a time of 27.14.
Hapsis (1:03.72) just edged out Perez (1:04.86) for fourth place in the 100y freestyle race.
Glenn (3:24.84) and Yamamoto (3:32.97) rounded out the field in the 200y breaststroke run.
Driver closed out the distance races with a 7:45.19 time in the 500y freestyle.
Wrapping the individual races, Uriarte posted a 1:17.33 time in the 100y butterfly and 2:54.78 time for the 200y individual medley.
The Bloodhounds 200y freestyle relay team (Hapsis, Yamamoto, Uriarte and Perez) finished out the day with a fourth-place finish, clocking in at 1:58.85.
NEXT UP: John Jay hosts its first home meet of the season, welcoming Mount Saint Mary College to campus on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6:00 p.m.
