Trio Of Men's Cross Country Runners Compete At 2024 NCAA Division III Niagara Regional Championships On Saturday

Fredonia, NY - Three John Jay men's cross country team members competed at the 2024 NCAA Division III Niagara Region Cross Country Championships, held at the Fredonia State Cross Country Course on Saturday.

Alejandro Animas clocked in at 32:27.3, while newcomers Tony Echeverria and Lakdar Layachi crossed the finish line at 33:03.5 and 34:14.9, respectively.

NYU won the team title, edging out SUNY Geneseo 29-30 with Brockport State rounding out the top-three schools. SUNY Geneseo's Charlie Wilson finished first overall with a time of 24:51.8 while teammate Alex Hillyard was next at 24:56.5. NYU's Liam Hagerty was third with a time of 25:04.8.

Both Echeverria and Layachi concluded solid first seasons for the Bloodhounds, as both placed among the top 15 at this year's CUNYAC Championships, earning All-Star recognition.
