Men's Cross Country Competes At Manhattan University Jasper Invitational On Saturday

Montgomery, NY - The John Jay College men's cross country team competed in their second race of the 2024 campaign, as the Bloodhounds ran at the Jasper Invitational, hosted by Manhattan University at Twins Ponds on the Farm.

The Bloodhounds placed eighth out of nine in the unseeded team results (8k), posting a total time of 3:05.20 while scoring 219 points. John Jay's average time was 37:04.

Freshman Lakdar Layachi was the Bloodhounds' top finisher in the race, placing 39th overall at 33:36.8. Tony Echeverria was next, clocking in 44th overall, with a time of 34:08.1. Veteran harrier Alejandro Animas placed among the top 50, finishing at 34:15.6.

Rounding out the performances for the Bloodhounds in this morning's run were Louis DeSario (58th | 39:59.9) and Matthew Rodriguez (60th | 43:20.3).

John Jay will be back on the trail on Saturday, September 21 as they will compete at the St. Joseph's University - Long Island Golden Eagle Invitational.

The race will commence from Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY at 12:00 p.m.
