Men's Cross Country Finishes Ninth At Fred Pavlich Invitational

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY - The John Jay College men's cross country team competed in their fourth meet of the 2024 season, racing at the Fred Pavlich Invitational, hosted by Bard College on Saturday.
 



The Bloodhounds placed ninth overall out of 11 teams that scored, scoring 194 points. New Paltz took the team crown with 22 followed by Baruch (116) and SUNY Cobleskill (126).

Individually, Oliver Melara-Perez of New Paltz led the way as four harriers from New Paltz crossed the finish line to claim the top four spots.

Leading the way for John Jay was Lakdar Layachi, who turned in a personal best in the 8K, crossing the finish line in 33:22.3.

Alejandro Animas was the next Bloodhound to finish, turning in a time of 33:26.5. 

Other notable finishes by John Jay on the morning came from Tony Echeverria, who clocked in 34th overall with a time of 33:47.9. Louis DeSario (42:39.1) and Matthew Rodriguez (42:42.7) closed out the performances for the Bloodhounds.

John Jay will be in action on Saturday, October 5, as they will head to Bethlehem, PA for the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. 

The race is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
