Three John Jay Tennis Student-Athletes Named To 2024-25 Academic All-District Team, Selected BY College Sports Communicators

New York, NY - The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Tennis Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

The John Jay men's and women's tennis team had a combined three student-athletes named to the Academic All-District Team - Samir Ghimire (Men's Tennis), Sarina Moi (Women's Tennis) and Manuela Orrego (Women's Tennis).

This marks back-to-back selections for both Ghimire and Moi while Orrego earns her first accolade.

With the trio's selection, John Jay has a total of 21 student-athletes named to the CSC Academic All-District Team thus far in 2024-25 as they join:

On the men's side, Ghimire joins fellow CUNYAC members Liam Cooper, Tuna Nergizoglu, and Steven Margolis from Baruch, Allen Mardakhayev and Ryan Sham from Brooklyn College, 

On the women's side, Moi and Orrego join fellow conference members Ava Deguzman and Maria Calvo Prado from Baruch and Maryam Khan and Dawa Bhote from York College. 

Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 3 (women) and June 4 (men).

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
