Samir Ghimire Earns CUNYAC All-Second Team Honors; Vladimir Ruzanov Named To Sportsmanship Team

Flushing, NY - The CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced the men's tennis All-Stars and major award winners on Friday morning. The league's head coaches vote upon the All-Star teams and major awards. 

John Jay junior Samir Ghimire was named to the CUNYAC Second Team, while teammate Vladimir Ruzanov was named to the Sportsmanship Team.
 



Baruch swept the major awards as Juan Mendoza was named Player of the Year, Giovanni De Santis III was tabbed Rookie of the Year, and head coach Gregory Wyzykowski was named Coach of the Year. Lehman's Taishawn Brownlee collected the Sportsmanship Award.

This marks the first honor for Ghimire, who tied for the team lead with four singles wins, all coming from the No. 1 position. Additionally, he picked up four doubles wins, three coming from the No. 1 doubles spot.

Ruzanov competed in his first season as a member of the tennis program, primarily playing at No. 4 while seeing action at No. 2 and No. 3. He and Ghimire picked up a doubles win against Albertus Magnus in the first match at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, back on April 29.
