John Jay Athletics To Split Men's, Women's Volleyball Coaching Duties

Voges to lead women's volleyball program, search for men's head coach underway

New York, NY - The John Jay College volleyball program is splitting its men's and women's volleyball head coaching responsibilities, Interim Director of Athletics Brandon Fieland announced.

With the decision, current head coach of both programs Austin Voges, who just completed his third season at the helm of each team, will continue to lead the women's program. A national search for the men's head coach is underway.

"This is a change that has been under consideration for some time," Fieland said. "We felt that for both our men's and women's volleyball programs to continue to grow, it was necessary to take this next step. The challenges of coaching and scheduling have regularly forced Coach Voges to split his attention between the two teams. Having two head coaches will ensure our volleyball student-athletes receive the attention and coaching they deserve while competing at a high level for the Bloodhounds."

At the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Voges accumulated a total of 108 wins across both programs. Voges led the women's program to their first CUNYAC Championship this past fall. He has coached back-to-back CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year (Josanne Lewis), two straight Rookie of the Year honorees (Hailey Waugman & Julia Stuart) along with a total 13 All-Star selections.  On the men's side, he has coached seven CUNYAC All-Stars which includes a CUNYAC Libero of the Year recipient (Micah Rossman) and CUNYAC Men's Volleyball Rookie of the Year (Nick Fuentes).

"This is a big step for the volleyball program," commented Voges. "I am appreciative to the administration for all their help in the process. It is bittersweet after leading both programs to new heights. I will miss coaching our men's team as their level of competition has grown, and they are poised to do big things in the conference."
