Newburgh, NY - The John Jay women's swim team took a pair of victories at Saturday's Tri-Meet at Mount Saint Mary, defeating the hosting Knights 94-84 and earning a 120-13 win over fellow CUNYAC member, York.
With the win, the Bloodhounds move to 4-7 overall on the year. Additionally, this marks John Jay's first tri-meet sweep since January 12, 2023, when they defeated Brooklyn and Purchase at the Brooklyn Tri-Meet.
The Bloodhounds started the day off with a win in the 200Y Medley Relay, as the quartet of
Grace Driver,
Aydan Damirova,
Luciana Uriarte, and
Brianna Torres turned in a time of 2:13.19, which is currently the fourth fastest time in the conference.
Driver took second in the 1000Y Free with a time of 15:14.31 while teammate
Julia Murray posted a time of 15:32.50. The two also competed in the 500Y Freestyle, with Driver clocking in at 7:21.16, followed by Murray in 7:42.04.
Torres took second in the 200Y Free with a time of 2:29.81 while placing second in the 100Y Free with a time of 1:04.16. In the 50Y Free,
Kira Englenton placed third at 35.06 while Giuliana Atencio finished fourth in 36.03.
Damirova and Uriarte finished first and second in the 200Y IM as Damirova turned a time of 2:31.91 while Uriarte finished in 2:47.75. In the 100Y Fly, Uriarte took second with a time of 1:25.00 while
Salem Williams touched the wall in 1:33.48. Williams competed in the 100Y Back, finishing in 1:35.35.
Damirova claimed a first-place performance in the 100Y Breaststroke, finishing in 1:16.43.
The Bloodhounds concluded the event with a time of 2:18.47 in the 200Y Freestyle Relay.
The Bloodhounds return to the John Jay Pool on Thursday, January 22, as they will host Lehman for Senior Night at 6:00 p.m.
