Kings Point, NY - The John Jay women's swim team opened up 2026 with a tri-meet at Merchant Marine Academy, as the Bloodhounds fell to USMMA, 191-56, and to fellow conference foe, Hunter, 153-65.
Freshman
Aydan Damirova had a pair of second-place finishes and added a third-place performance on the evening as she took second in the 100y Breaststroke with a time of 1:15.69 while also finishing second in the 200y Breaststroke in 2:51.78. Damirova took third in the 200y IM with a time of 2:39.36.
The 400y Freestyle Relay squad of Giuliana Atencio,
Salem Williams,
Kira Englenton, and
Nutsa Prangishvili finished third with a time of 5:42.86.
John Jay's quartet of
Victoria Hapsis, Damirova,
Luciana Uriarte, and Prangishvili turned in a time of 2:15.88 in the 200y Medley Relay.
Hapsis finished fourth in the 200Y Freestyle with a time of 2:23.14 and fourth in the 200y Backstroke with a time of 2:46.53.
Englenton and Williams competed in the 100Y Backstroke, posting times of 1:36.10 and 1:37.11, respectively.
Prangishvili placed fourth in the 200y Fly, finishing in 3:07.39, her best time in the event.
Uriarte touched the wall in 30.05 in the 50Y Free while Atencio placed third in the 100y Free with a time of 1:25.03.
The Bloodhounds are back in the pool on Saturday, January 17, as they travel to Newburgh, NY, to swim against hosts Mount Saint Mary and Purchase in a tri-meet.
