Bronx, NY - For the second consecutive season and third time in four years, the John Jay women's swimming team, under head coach
Miguel Escalante, finished third overall at the CUNYAC Swimming Champions.
The Bloodhounds finished with 148 points, the most under Escalante's tenure, and are currently the 12th most points recorded at a championship meet in program history.
Freshman
Aydan Damirova took the Bloodhounds' first gold medal of the three-day championship in the 200Y Breast, posting a time of 2:42.78.
In the 200Y Fly, newcomer
Nutsa Prangishvili finished third overall with a time of 2:50.48 while teammate
Luciana Uriarte placed fourth with a time of 2:53.12.
The 400Y Freestyle Relay team of
Brianna Torres, Uriarte, Damirova, and
Victoria Hapsis picked up 12 points by finishing third in the event with a time of 4:07.98.
Earlier in the competition,
Grace Driver and
Julia Murray produced times of 23:32.59 and 24:41.36, respectively, in the 1650Y Free.
Salem Williams represented John Jay in the 200Y Back, finishing with a time of 3:12.68.
Torres and Giuliana Atencio competed in the 100Y Free, with Torres touching the wall with a time of 1:02.08 and sixth overall, while Atencio placed ninth with a time of 1:16.75.
The Bloodhounds are slated to swim against Lehman back at the APEX Pool on Thursday, February 5, at 6:00 p.m.
